Cool 2010 Subaru Legacy

Finally the 2010 Legacy concept is out.

Quote:
On the very same day we learned the disappointing news that Subaru is pulling out of the World Rally Championship, the Japanese company gave us something to smile about: a sneak peak of the Legacy Concept that will be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in January. And we like what we see.

legacy.jpg

This racier-looking Legacy remains a 4-door sports sedan, an all-wheel-driver powered by a 3.6-liter flat-6 boxer engine that provides the car with a distinctive growl while helping to lower the center of gravity for improved handling. Not many details of the Legacy Concept have been released, but Subaru says the interior will embody modern high-tech architecture while still remaining comfortable. From the outside, it's clear to us that the front fascia is far more distinctive than before, helping to create an aggressively sporty look that's complemented by the significantly flared wheel arches.

We have a strong suspicion that these styling elements will be seen in the 2010 Legacy, which will continue to be built at Subaru plants in Gunman, Japan, and in Lafayette, Indiana. Of note, 3.6 million Legacy models have been built since 1989, the year of its inception, and the U.S. accounts for 43 percent of the production volume.

I found this photo on a Japanese magazine from the web. Though it's a wagon, still looks good.

The concept's photo looks different from this magazine, especially the headlights...

I thought the photo on the magazine cover looks quite plain.

Marking the 20th anniversary of the Subaru Legacy, Subaru is proud to announce a concept model that suggests the direction of future Legacy Sedan design. The LEGACY CONCEPT has been developed to showcase the Legacyís sporting capabilities and features Subaruís Symmetrical All-Wheel drive system mated to a Horizontally-Opposed Boxer engine. Building on the Legacy modelís heritage of sportiness, style and reliability, the LEGACY CONCEPT is presented as a global mid-size sedan with interior space to fit four adults in comfort.

The sneak photo look better than those taken at the autoshow. May be they should have painted it black instead of the shinny silver finish.

Yes, the headlights look plain, which reminds me of mazda's.... but I quite like the grille, which I think looks better than the concept.

There's a website on the concept: http://www.subaru-global.com/special...ept/index.html

The photos on the website look better than those taken at the autoshow.

They are removing the Subaru's signature airscoop... but the side mirrors look oddly small.

Yes, they are small... I wonder what is this thing that looks like a speaker that is on the side mirror.

My guess is some kind of recording device that show live video of on this "electronic rear mirror"?

Anyways, what I like are the integrated exhaust pipes.
