Arrow 2 cash cards thieves caught in one day

In one day, two news reports on cash cards thieves caught. I wonder if it's just coincidence or is this problem so common in Singapore?

A women had spotted the brothers, aged 21 and 26 years, loitering suspiciously at a multi-storey carpark in Woodlands and alerted the police.

Police found 15 cash cards and a bunch of motor vehicle ignition keys on them. A lorry that they had stolen earlier that night was also recovered.

The brothers are suspected to have stolen from vehicles in the Woodlands area since December last year.

The suspects will be charged in court on Tuesday for stealing the lorry. The offence carries a jail term of not more than 7 years.

A TIP-OFF from a vigilant couple led to the arrest of a 19-year-old youth believed to be responsible for a series of motor vehicle thefts in Hougang.

On Sunday, the couple spotted the youth behaving suspiciously in a carpark and alerted the police.

Police found the youth and arrested him near the carpark. Five cash cards and two auto-pass cards were recovered.

The youth will be charged in court on Tuesday for theft. The offence carries a maximum jail term of three years and/or fine.

You're right that it's a common problem. I've got friends who have their cash cards stolen at car parks before. So the best is always keep them with you, locking the cars aren't good enough.
