Default Good news for OPC Owners?

Additional Services On MobileP@y For Off-Peak Car (OPC) Owners

1. From Monday, 1 March 2010, off-peak car (OPC) owners can look forward to three additional services available through the SMS MobileP@y channel. These services are:

a. Entering usage dates of the e-Day Licence;
b. Changing usage dates of the e-Day Licence; and
c. Cancellation of the e-Day Licence.

2. These new services complement the existing services on MobileP@y where registered MobileP@y users can purchase and enquire on e-Day Licences. For greater convenience, each registered MobileP@y user can now list up to 5 mobile phone numbers from which they can make e-Day Licence transactions.

3. For more information, motorists can visit from 1 March 2010.

Update on the Revised OPC Scheme

4. The revised OPC scheme has enjoyed a steady uptake with more than 21,000 motorists converting to the scheme since its launch on 25 January 2010. This figure accounts for about 45% of OPC users based on the current total OPC population of 47,986.

Stepped-up Enforcement Operations

5. Enforcement activities have been intensified against errant OPC users who use the OPC during the restricted hours without buying a valid e-Day Licence before 2359 hours on the next day after the OPC/WEC was used. Action is also taken against owner/drivers who do not enter the usage date for the vehicle's pre-paid un-dated e-Day Licence before 2359 hours on the next day after the OPC/WEC was used.

6. As at 31 January 2010, about 150 offence notices have been issued. Errant drivers/owners are liable to a fine of up to $5,000. For subsequent offences, the driver/ owner is liable to a fine of up to $10,000.

what comes around goes around comes around goes around comes...

Points 5 and 6 aren't really good news for anyone.

But with the reduction of number of COE, I think even OPC will become very expensive soon.
